The writer Céline dedicated her doctoral thesis to the Hungarian doctor Ignác Semmelweis, whose house now serves as a museum. Semmelweis then advised doctors to wash their hands with a disinfectant solution, which lowered the mortality rate of infants and their parturient mothers. The collection brings together objects tracing the history of medicine from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. Some surgical tools are a little scary to look at..
