Mememto Park is definitely worth visiting. We chose the Trabant Tour with guide (because we are car nerds) and were picked up and dropped off at our flat. Our Trabant driver, and guide, Judit, was amazing. She made history come alive with her knowledge of Hungary's past and her passion for Mememto Park. We loved our ride in "Gina" the Trabant and hearing about the history of "Gina" (bought for $80 US and it was running!) plus all the quirky details of this historic vehicle. Overall great value, fun, and very informative.

Fantastic tour guide, Barbara. Excellent tour and explanation of communism in Hungary. Really enjoyed it.

A kedvencem a Len in black feliratú hűtőmágnes volt. Képem nincs, de Áfonya videócsatornáján a Kaukázusi bringakör 19. részének elején látható.

Fun place and quirky relic of the countries past.
However it is very small and quite run down, particularly given the €7 entrance fee.

Sajnos a szobrok állapota romlik.
A park növényzete kissé elhanyagolt.
Mindezzel együtt jó élmény volt.
A mellékhelyiség tiszta, kifogástalan.

Too expensive ticket.
Taking into consideration that it's a plot 25 km away from Budapest, not too much to see but a few old and rusty statues.

Anyway, good for seeing what communism was and did, and why it should have been banned all through the world.

Memento Park is a remarkable open-air museum that takes you on a historical journey from the First World War to the end of communism in Hungary. Opting for a guided tour (we did one in English) especially with Judy, elevates the experience significantly. Judy's expertise and enthusiasm bring the statues and stories of the era to life, offering deep insights into Hungary's complex history.Despite receiving no public funding, Memento Park stands as a vital keeper of history, with each exhibit sharing a piece of Hungary's past. Judy's narratives provide context and understanding, making the tour not just informative but deeply moving. For anyone interested in history, culture, or understanding the impact of communism, this guided tour is essential. Judy's guidance transforms a visit into an educational and inspiring experience, making Memento Park a must-visit destination for a meaningful glimpse into Hungary's historical struggles and sucesses.

Well worth the trip out of the middle of town and so easy to reach by public transport. Terrific, passionate staff to explain about the park and its context. Get the guidebook - it tells you so much. Fascinating visit for me as I had seen so many of these statues in their original homes in 1990!

This site is very small, but it contains statues, bunker, videos and a small view. It's far away from the city center, but reachable with public transportation (101B, 101E, 150 buses). Overall it's ok, but only if you have the time to spare or are around the area.

During our recent trip to Budapest, we decided to venture beyond the city limits to explore Memento Park, a treasure trove of monuments from Hungary's communist era. And let me tell you, it was an experience like no other.

Situated just outside the city, Memento Park boasts an impressive collection of relics that offer a glimpse into Hungary's complex history. But what truly elevated our visit was the decision to join a guided tour. We were fortunate to have Esther as our guide, and her insights transformed our visit into an unforgettable journey.

Over the course of two enlightening hours, Esther not only shed light on the symbolism behind each monument but also delved into the subtle subtexts and hidden messages embedded within them. It was fascinating to learn how the artists ingeniously conveyed deeper meanings, often reflecting the tumultuous post-war period and the evolving sociopolitical landscape.

But perhaps the most profound takeaway from our time with Esther was the realization of the park's significance in the context of democracy. As she eloquently pointed out, Memento Park stands as a testament to the fragility of democracy and the dangers of authoritarianism. It serves as a poignant reminder of the past while advocating for a future rooted in freedom and democracy.

Sure, getting to Memento Park requires a short bus ride, but trust me when I say it's worth every minute of the journey. The experience of exploring this open-air museum with a knowledgeable guide like Esther adds a layer of depth and understanding that simply can't be replicated. So if you find yourself in Budapest, do yourself a favor and make the trip to Memento Park—you won't regret it.

Memento Park Budapest offers not just a glimpse into Hungary's communist past, but also serves as a powerful testament to the importance of preserving democracy. With its thought-provoking monuments and insightful guides, it's an experience that's as educational as it is eye-opening.

Szuper volt!
Igazi élmény, hiszen ezeket a szobrokat az eredeti helyükről ismerem!
A kiszolgálás példaértékű!
Csillagos ötös! ????

While it is interesting to see old statues brought to one place, the museum feels only half complete, most of the platforms are empty, waiting for their statue that might never arrive. Considering the 3.000HUF entry fee plus the fact that it's quite far from the capital, so requires some travel too, only worth visiting if you're enthusiastic about the socialist era, out of things to see or happen to be nearby.

Only 40 minutes from the centre of Budapest, the park is a remarkable history lesson .It will last in my memory for a long time - despite it clearly being short of funds.
Ps I reccomend buying the visitors guide
