STREET NAGYMEZŐ (NAGYMEZŐ UTCA)
Partly pedestrianized street, nicknamed the "Broadway" of Pest, home to the city's main cabarets and theaters.
Nicknamed the "Broadway" of Pest, Nagymező Street, which is partly pedestrian, has been home to the city's main cabarets and theatres since the 1930s. Neons, flashy halls, renovated sidewalks featuring the names of great Hungarian stars, cafés... the avenue is entirely dedicated to entertainment (bars and nightclubs have since taken over). Nothing to do with the frenzy of the original New Yorker. Hajós utca is its calmer extension.
