BATTHYÁNY SQUARE (BATTHYÁNY TÉR)
A beautiful square with a magnificent Baroque temple and a former White Cross inn in Budapest.
There is the Church of St. Anne, the parish church "of the water district" (the work of Mattheus Nepauer and Kristóf Hamon, 1740-1762), a magnificent Baroque temple ; the Hikisch House (Hikisch Ház) at No. 3, built at the end of the 18th century, and, at No. 4, the former White Cross Inn, in rococo style, extremely popular in the 18th century and which would have housed Casanova, the famous Italian seducer, who set his heart on a Serbian girl in the evening.
