Castle, headquarters of the Calatrava order, with a restored three-aisled Gothic church and a remarkable cloister
It was founded in 1217, with the function of being the headquarters of the Order of Calatrava, the first of the Spanish military orders. The complex is impressive. It consists of a double courtyard and a restored Gothic church with three naves. The 15th century cloister is remarkable. Also, in front of the castle lie the ruins of an Arab fortress that the knights of the Calatrava order stormed in the 12th century.
