16th century church with Renaissance façade, altarpiece and organ from the Baroque period, Los Bustos chapel
This church was built in the 16th century on the former hermitage of La Moraleja in the Plaza Mayor. Its Renaissance-style façade is noteworthy. The interior synthesizes several artistic styles, including an altarpiece and an organ from the Baroque period. The writer Francisco de Quevedo was buried in the chapel of Los Bustos, the oldest of the chapels. In 1955, a crypt was discovered in this church, dated 1646 and dedicated to Saint Thomas, whose pulpit is a beautiful example of the Plateresque style, entirely covered with amphorae, sphinxes...
