MANGANA TOWER
Mangana Tower dating from the Middle Ages, 28 meters high and with a clock at its top
The Torre de Mangana is one of the symbols of the city. This 28-metre high watchtower with a clock on top was built in the Middle Ages and then modified many times between the 16th and 20th centuries. Its origins and the identity of its designers are debated, as the site where it stands was occupied by the walls of the old Alcazar (Moorish castle), but also by a synagogue (proof of the existence of a Jewish quarter) and a Christian church (Santa Maria, destroyed in the early 20th century). The view from the esplanade is splendid.
