CHÂTEAU
Castle that served as a Roman fortress, home of Bishop Bernardo, refuge during the Carlist wars, converted into a parador
The castle was first a Roman fortress. It was later occupied by the Visigoths and then by the Moors who made it their alcazaba. Reconquered in 1124, it became the official residence of Bishop Bernardo and his successors and was also used as a refuge during the Carlist wars. Finally, it was turned into a parador. On this occasion, it was rebuilt almost in its entirety following the damage caused by the civil war and beautifully restored. Since it is a hotel, you cannot visit the whole place, but you can come and have a drink.
