SAN GIL MUSEUM
Museum of Romanesque style composed of three collections, Sacred Art including the Virgin of Bethlehem, Archaeology and Mineralogy
The museum is housed in the Romanesque church of San Gil, with a magnificent coffered ceiling in the central part. It consists of three collections: Sacred Art, Archaeology and Mineralogy. Among the most beautiful pieces is the Virgin of Bethlehem, by Juan de Juanes, a great Valencian painter of the early 16th century, and four panels attributed to Alonso Berruguete, a 16th century painter and sculptor. On the archaeological side, the pieces range from the Paleolithic to the Visigothic period, and on the mineralogical side, fossils from the area.
