VAUZY-CHASSANGUE
Located in the Thiers area since 1850, this family business manufactures knives in the greatest tradition. Over the years, it has conquered the greatest brands and seduced professionals in the food industry.
History. Since the Middle Ages, in every street, in every house, families of cutlers have perpetuated a tradition of excellence and know-how handed down from generation to generation.
As early as 1751, Louis Vauzy manufactured his first models, solid and elegant knives. The Chassangue cutlery is highly appreciated by peddlers who, from town to town, criss-cross Europe and promote the excellence of their products. In 1850, when Georges Vauzy married Anne Chassangue, two brands, two legacies joined forces to create Vauzy-Chassangue.
The family business is growing, opening two new workshops, expanding its range and registering several new brands faithful to its heritage and values: respect for tradition, know-how, openness to the world and a taste for excellence. Around 1900, Georges-Ernest Vauzy (son) gave a new impetus to the company, which became the Vauzy-Chassangue cutlery factory and participated in the Universal Exhibitions.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the brand was one of the first to manufacture promotional items and its name was associated with that of many luxury brands. By making its knives and sommeliers known throughout France and Europe, Vauzy-Chassangue works for major champagne houses. In addition, the cutlery business continues to expand by adapting to a new customer base: brasseries and fine restaurants in Paris.
Today, faithful to its spirit of tradition and modernity, Vauzy-Chassangue pursues a path of excellence that carries the heritage of the founders and resembles its time.
The products. Vauzy-Chassangue produces millions of cutlery items every year. Its Laguiole and Thiers ranges are mainly made up of sommelier knives (70% of production), table knives and pocket knives, but also champagne corks with branches and... chopsticks.
Employment. 18 employees for 1.6 million in turnover, according to the latest figures available.
