CASA DE MEDRANO
Visit this cellar in a vaulted cellar, and discover a library, a cultural center and an open air theater around
Legend has it that Cervantes, imprisoned for a fanciful accounting of his purchases of wheat for the Armada, composed the first chapters of his masterpiece here. We visit his cell, in a vaulted cellar (the Cueva de Medrano), around which the regional government has built a library, a cultural center and an open air theater. Both places are frequented by the inhabitants of the city, for whom the Cervantine adventure continues every day. At the entrance of this old manor house you will find the tourist office.
