CHURCH OF ST. MARTIN
The superb 12th century Romanesque church of Saint-Martin is located in Thuret.
This 12th-century Romanesque church has little to envy the region's five remarkable basilicas. Inside, take time to admire the astonishing wealth of capitals and figures. Among them, a chained monkey, a dog biting its tail, a phoenix... A Black Madonna has also been venerated here since the Seventh Crusade. Last but not least, Saint Bénilde, a native of Thuret, is worshipped here. A pilgrimage is dedicated to him in July. The site has been known since antiquity for its geomagnetic benefits.
