CASTILLO DE OLIVENZA
This castle built during the reign of King Alfonso IV, houses part of the Gonzalez Santana Ethnographic Museum
The first citadel was built at the beginning of the 14th century, on the site of an old Templar fortress from the 13th century, of which no trace remains. Originally the enclosure had 14 towers and 4 gates, of which only those of Alconchel and Los Angeles remain. The castle built during the reign of King Alfonso IV is located within this complex. Today it conserves a very impressive 40-meter hightower (torre del homenaje). It also houses part of the González Santana Ethnographic Museum.
