Castle that appears as a crenellated enclosure and hosts a music, dance and theater festival in Trujillo
This castle dominates the village, perched on its promontory. Flanked by large square towers of Moorish origin, it appears as a crenellated enclosure. After the reconquest of the village by the armies of Ferdinand III in 1232, the fortress was enlarged and cylindrical towers were added. At the top of the keep, the patron saint of Trujillo, Our Lady of Victory, is proudly enthroned. From the curtain walls, the view of the city, its palaces and its Plaza Mayor is magnificent. At the end of August, it welcomes a festival of music, dances and theater.
