PEÑARANDA DE DUERO CASTLE
One of the best preserved castles of those that formed the fortified line between the Christian kingdoms and al-Andalus in the tenth century
It is one of the best-preserved castles of those that formed the fortified line between the Christian kingdoms and al-Andalus in the 10th century. The original construction dates from this period, but what we see today is the result of a Gothic-style renovation from the 15th century. Its elongated plan and central quadrangular keep are noteworthy. The two towers of the entrance are the starting point of the old ramparts of which only a crenellated arch remains today.
