REAL MONASTERIO DE SANTA CLARA
Monastery converted into a convent for the Poor Clares by the Infanta Beatrice in 1363 in Tordesillas
Located on the banks of the Duero River, the Royal Monastery of Santa Clara is a Mudejar palace erected by Peter I of Castile and transformed into a convent for the Poor Clare Sisters by the infanta Beatrice in 1363. The Moorish patio, the golden chapel and the Arabic baths in an annex building are noteworthy. In the Gothic church, built in the 15th century, admire the sumptuous coffered ceiling and in the chapel of Saldaña, the magnificent set of Gothic sculptures.
