CATEDRAL DE LEÓN
A beautiful gothic cathedral with a museum of sacred art in Leon.
Gothic in all its splendour, adorned with 145 stained glass windows, on a surface comparable to that of Chartres Cathedral. It was built between the 13th and 14th centuries on the model of the cathedral of Reims (Latin cross plan with three naves). The cathedral should be visited in the late morning: the naves are then tinged with a myriad of soft colours distilled from the main rose window, dating from the 13th century. In the cloister of the cathedral, a museum of sacred art presents a superb collection, from prehistory to the 20th century, spread over 17 rooms.
