PALACIO DE LOS GUZMANES
Palace with Renaissance facade dominating the entrance to the old town and patio with columns, seat of the Deputation of Leon
Don Juan de Quiñones and Guzman, Bishop of Calahorra, ordered the construction of this palace, which began in 1560. It is built on a plot of land where the old city wall and another Mudejar Gothic palace, which belonged to the same family and was destroyed to make way for the new building, ran. Today, the palace houses the headquarters of the Deputation of Leon. Its Renaissance facade, decorated with plateresque elements, dominates the entrance to the old town. Its patio with columns is particularly noteworthy.
