Renaissance style church with a baroque organ in the historical center of Ponferrada
Located in the historical centre of Ponferrada, it is a Renaissance church with a Latin cross plan, whose construction began in 1573. On the main altarpiece, which dates from the seventeenth century, there is a representation of the patron saint of the Bierzo, the Virgin of the Encina. The basilica has two organs, one of which is Baroque dating from the 17th century and the other more modern. Do not miss the altarpiece of the Sagrada Familia and its sculpture of St. Michael the Archangel.
