CONVENT OF LAS DUEÑAS
Convent surrounded by Renaissance mansions with a Renaissance cloister and a bestiary of fantastic creatures on the perimeter
Built in the 16th century, this convent was protected by secrecy for a long time. You will discover a Renaissance cloister, preserved in its almost original state, which reveals its full personality in its upper gallery. All around, a complete bestiary of fantastic creatures is displayed on the capitals. The Plaza de Colón is 100 m higher up, with the statue of the admiral pointing west. The monument is surrounded by elegant Renaissance mansions and a 15th-century fortress topped by the Clavero Tower, known as the Keystone Tower.
