LA CASA DE LAS CONCHAS
House with a facade decorated with scallops hiding an ounce of gold according to the legend, current seat of the public library
The house has more than 300 scallops all over its façade. The palace was built in the 15th century by a knight of the Order of Santiago in honour of his wife, the aptly named Doña Concha. There are many legends surrounding this house, such as the one about an ounce of gold being hidden under one of the stone shells, to bring good luck to the buildings. Today it houses a public library. Inside, a new example of the elegant Salmantine arcades arranged around a patio.
