CASA DE CERVANTÈS
Historical house that can be visited as a museum of ethnography in Valladolid
Don Quixote's father lived here from 1603 to 1606, surrounded by women: two of his sisters, his daughter and his niece. This historic residence can be visited like a museum of ethnography. On the first floor is the typical 17th-century Castilian kitchen, with its utensils and azulejo-covered fireplace. You can also see the dais(estrado) on which the women worked. Upstairs, Cervantes' bedroom, with a painting from his personal collection on the wall: The Battle of Lepanto, in which the writer lost an arm.
