Its 13th-century tower, with its military appearance, is one of the emblems of Palencia, rising some 70 metres above the ground. The temple, whose construction dates back to the 11th century, has a Romanesque apse. Its main portal is in Gothic style. Inside, there are some high quality baroque altarpieces. Every January1st, the "Baptism of the Child" is celebrated in a moving procession in which Palencia's most popular Christmas song is played. Sweets are also thrown to the children.
