MONASTERIO SANTA MARÍA LA REAL
Former monastery in a transitional Romanesque-Gothic style that is now the seat of a study center dedicated to Romanesque art
This former monastery of the Premonstratensian order was built between the 13th and 14th centuries, in a style of Romano-Gothic transition. It was the residence of the Premonstratensian monks until Mendizábal was deforested in 1835. Today the monastery is the seat of a study centre dedicated to Romanesque art. The church's capitals, cloister and chapter house are noteworthy. Guided tours are organized to discover the points of interest of this former monastery.
