One of the 12 bridges that the city has, a tribute to the Christian hero in Burgos
It is one of the 12 bridges that the city has. A few blocks from the cathedral, it spans the river Arlanzón from the Plaza del Mío Cid, presided over by the equestrian statue of the Cid with his cape, his Colada sword and his horse Babieca, to the Plaza del Conde de Castro. This tribute to the Christian hero is completed by the statues on the bridge. These include Doña Jimena, the Cid's wife; Abengalbón, his ally; and his son Diego, who was killed in the battle of Consuegra. At the end, note the figure of the raven on the lamp post, referring to the Poem of the Cid.
