SAN JUAN DE DUERO MONASTERY
Monastery that housed the Order of the Hospitallers of Jerusalem, the last one of quadrangular structure in Soria
You have to cross the Duero River to reach one of the most astonishing medieval monuments in the country in about ten minutes' walk. Of this monastery, which at the time housed the Order of the Hospitallers of Jerusalem, only the church (12th century) and its magnificent Romanesque cloister (13th century) have been preserved. The latter, with its quadrangular structure, has superb arcades, finely sculpted in various styles. The church is simple, consisting of a single nave.
