CONCATEDRAL DE SAN PEDRO
Cathedral composed of three naves dominated by star-shaped vaults and supported by imposing cylindrical pillars
The centre of the city is marked by the imposing presence of the cathedral, a powerful plateresque building whose "dark" interior, here pushed to the extreme, borders on the ridiculous. It consists of three naves dominated by star-shaped vaults and supported by imposing cylindrical pillars. The main altarpiece, by Francisco del Río in the 16th century, depicts episodes from the life of Saint Peter. The Romanesque cloister (12th century) is the jewel in the cathedral's crown, declared a national monument in 1929.
