SEGOVIA CATHEDRAL
Visit this last Castilian cathedral built in the Gothic style and discover the works of Ambrosius Benson
Construction began in 1525 on the orders of Charles I. The cathedral, which will celebrate its 500th anniversary in 2025, is the last remaining Castilian Gothic cathedral. The tower measures 88 m and dates back to the 16th century. Until the middle of this century, it was inhabited by the bellringer. Inside, works by Ambrosius Benson, Berruguete and Sanchez Coello can be found in the 4 exhibition rooms and 23 chapels. The extraordinary organ is still in operation. Anecdotally, it's a meeting place for storks in the afternoon.
