CASTILLO DE CUELLAR
An impressive monumental ensemble that strikes the eye with its two Gothic and seven Romanesque towers
A few dozen kilometers from the city, Cuellar is an impressive monumental complex that immediately strikes the eye with its two Gothic and seven Romanesque towers. The castle was usurped by Henry IV from his sister-in-law Isabel (the future Catholic Queen) and ceded to his great friend Beltran de la Cueva, first Duke of Alburquerque. The latter built a sumptuous palace there (in 1476). The access is regulated, so it is better to book the guided tour. It lasts 2 hours and you can enjoy a theatrical visit.
