CASTILLO DE LOARRE
The most impressive fortress in the entire region, which has been used as a set for many films
It is without doubt the most impressive fortress in the whole region, but perhaps, in fact, in the whole of Spain, culminating at 1,071 meters above sea level and which has been used as a set for many films, including Ridley Scott's Kingdom ofHeaven. Its builder was Sancho Ramirez, King of Navarre (1000-1035), who used it as a base of resistance against the Moorish occupation. Within its walls, there is a Romanesque church of harmonious proportions. We can also access the Torre de la Reina and its big sister the Torre del Homenaje.
