A meeting place for revellers from all over the world, the festivities in Pamplona offer a unique concentration of tradition, fiesta and folklore!
Of religious origin (San Fermín is the patron saint of the town), this local feria owes its international fame to Ernest Hemingway, who used it as the setting for his famous novel The Sun Also Rises. The txupinazo (firecracker) fired from the balcony of the town hall opens the festivities. For a week, theencierro (runningof the bulls) will be the main attraction of the festivities, as well as the daily bullfights. In the evening, a euphoric crowd dressed in red and white gathers to dance the night away. The final ceremony of the Pobre de mi closes a week of festive marathon.
