SAN NICOLÁS CHURCH
Church-fortress with neo-Gothic arcades in Pamplona with 3 imposing watchtowers
In the Middle Ages, this fortress church played an important military and defensive role in the neighbourhood of the same name, in the Casco Viejo de Pamplona: its thick walls, as well as its gates and three imposing watchtowers, bear witness to this military past. Built in the 13th century on the remains of a Romanesque church, this Gothic temple has been remodelled several times: in 1888, with the restoration of the façade and arcades in neo-Gothic style, and again in 1924, with the addition of a bell tower and crenellated tower
