PLAZA DE TOROS DE PAMPLONA
Spanish bullring with a capacity of nearly 20,000 people, a mythical place for bullfights during the Sanfermines
Spain's second largest arena after Las Ventas in Madrid, Pamplona's Plaza de Toros has a capacity of almost 20,000 people. Inaugurated in 1922 and enlarged in the 1970s by the architect Rafael Moneo, it is a mythical place because of its famous bullfights during the Sanfermines. Before these bullrings were built, Pamplona's bullfights were held in the Plaza del Castillo. Then, from 1843 onwards, the first Plaza de Toros (Bullring) was built, which was much more modest than this one.
