PLAZA DEL CASTILLO
Plaza de Pamplona, where the locals meet and where the festivities take place. The Iruña café, which received Hemingway, is located here
Bordered by arcaded buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, this large square has been the meeting point of the people of Pamplona and the focal point of the festivities since the Middle Ages. Emblematic of the city, the square, a perfect ring of 14,000 square metres, was until 1844 the venue for bullfights, as well as the natural site for tournaments, markets, military parades and other popular events. This is also the location of the Iruña Café, an illustrious establishment founded in 1888 where Hemingway had his habits.
