IGLESIA DEL CRUCIFIJO
The church of the Crucifix has a portico decorated with representations of fantastic animals and plants
Located at the entrance to the Way of St. James, the construction of the Igreja del Crucifijo (Church of the Crucifix) is attributed to the Templars in the 12th century. The porch is covered with scallops, the emblem of the pilgrims. The church has an astonishing Y-shaped crucifix, which was offered by German pilgrims as a thank you for the welcome they received in Puente la Reina: this cross would be the one they would have carried on their way. Also worth seeing is a portico decorated with representations of fantastic animals and plants.
