IGLESIA DE SANTIAGO EL MAYOR
Church in Puenta La Reina combining 3 styles inside: Gothic, Romanesque and Neoclassical
This 12th-century church, with an interior rebuilt in the 15th century, part of which is an 18th-century addition, combines three styles: Gothic, Romanesque and Neoclassical. Its centrepiece is inside the temple: an extraordinary polychrome wooden Saint James called "Santiago beltza" (black in Basque) because of his face tanned and blackened by time. A 16th-century statue also deserves attention: that of a polychrome stone Saint Bartholomew.
