BASILICA NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL PUY
Basilica marked by its star shape evoking the light linked to the apparition of the Virgin, according to a legend
Legend has it that around the year 1085, shepherds, attracted by a cluster of stars, came here and had an apparition of the Virgin Mary. A chapel was built in her honour, then a baroque church, of which the 18th century portal and square remain. The present basilica, designed by the Navarrese architect Víctor Eúsa, was built between 1929 and 1951. Its star shape evokes the intense light that accompanied the Virgin's vision.
