IGLESIA DE SAN MIGUEL
Sober and beautiful late Romanesque church with the most expressive bas-reliefs and a Gothic altarpiece
After the small bridge (Puente de la cárcel), take the first left and climb to the top of a rocky promontory called "La Mota" to reach the sober and beautiful San Miguel church, a late Romanesque building. Its north portal is one of the jewels of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. The two most expressive bas-reliefs show (at the bottom of the portal) the three Mary returning from the sepulchre (on the right) and Saint Michael slaying the dragon (on the left). The Gothic altarpiece of Santa Elena is also worth seeing.
