CALAHORRA CATHEDRAL
A cathedral rich in treasures, including the chapel of Saint-Pierre, Christ à la Pelote, patron saint of Basque pelota players.
The Romanesque building was completed at the end of the 15th century and in the 18th century. The cloister is in Gothic-Plateresque style. Rich in treasures, the cathedral shelters among others the chapel of Saint Peter, of the Christ with the Pelota, the patron saint of the pelotaris (Basque pelota players), of the martyred saints... Let us also note that in 1900, the altarpiece of the high altar was installed, the old one having gone up in smoke during a fire on June 13, 1900. One can appreciate the large square in front of the cathedral, with a very beautiful wind rose in its center.
