MONASTERY NUESTRA SEÑORA DE VICO
Isolated, charming monastery near the Rioja pine forest in Arnedo, home to Cistercian nuns.
An isolated monastery full of charm, where the Virgin of Vico appeared to the Kan de Vico (head of one of the Arab communities of Arnedo) in 1045. Founded in 1456 by the Franciscan friar Fray López de Salinas, the monastery had its hour of glory in the 17th century. Today it is occupied by Cistercian nuns who make biscuits that can be tasted on the spot. Next to the monastery stands the only pine forest in La Rioja, el Pinar de Vico.
