CASTILLO DE SANTA ANA
Monument transformed into a lighthouse with a splendid view of the city and the sea presenting temporary exhibitions
Close to the church of Santa Maria, the Castillo Faro was the main defence of the city. Built in the 13th century, the monument was not transformed into a lighthouse until the 19th century. Its defensive wall was used in 1814 against the attacks of the French. From there, you have a splendid view of the city and the sea. Inside, there are temporary exhibitions. Nero's Billionaire is also on display. It was discovered in Otañes and dates from the year 61. The milestone indicated the distance (mile marker) between Otañes and Puerto de la Muñecas.
