They are part of the architectural ensemble of Castro Urdiales. The hermitage is nestled on a rocky outcrop on the coast. The present building dates from 1941 and was built on the remains of several eras. The medieval bridge in Gothic style completes the ensemble, allowing access to the hermitage. Excavations carried out on the site have revealed traces of human occupation dating back to the Palaeolithic period and have revealed several construction phases.
