This museum offers a good introduction to the tour of prehistoric sites in the region. In total, no less than 2,500 objects have been brought together in this beautiful museum. The Upper Paleolithic, circa 35,000 BC, is given pride of place with pieces from Altamira. The giant stelae, engraved with Celtic motifs, remain a puzzle for scientists. They are attributed to the Cantabrians (1st century BC) who practiced the cult of the stars.
