IGLESIA DEL SANTÍSIMO CRISTO
Church preserving the foundations of an ancient Roman domus in Santander.
Located under the cathedral, which was rebuilt after the siniestro of 1941 in its original Gothic style, the crypt dates from the Romanesque period (11th-13th). Its three naves divided by sturdy pillars make it welcoming. But to discover all its interest, you have to look down: on the left, under the nave, the foundations of an ancient Roman domus appear. The whole thing is skilfully illuminated and covered with thick glass and, alas, sometimes camouflaged by church pews..
