EL SARDINERO
A chic and seaside area in Santander, between the Magdalena peninsula and the Cabo Mayor.
Sandwiched between the Magdalena peninsula to the south and the Cabo Mayor to the north, this chic seaside neighbourhood developed towards the end of the 19th century around two large beaches: Primera Playa El Sardinero and Segunda Playa El Sardinero. It takes its name from the fact that in ancient times, sardines were caught in abundance here. Its neoclassical casino, luxurious hotels and Belle Epoque villas are characteristic of the architecture of the seaside resorts that were in vogue at the beginning of the 20th century. You can also enjoy parks like Los Pinares.
