COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF SANTA JULIANA
A beautiful Romanesque collegiate church in Santillana, the most beautiful example of Romanesque art in Cantabria.
This beautiful Romanesque collegiate church is what Santillana is known for. It is considered to be the finest example of Romanesque art in the region. It has three naves and its side portal, which was rebuilt in the 18th century, is the best way to approach it. The relics of Santa Juliana are carefully preserved in a 15th century carved sarcophagus. The sculpted capitals are also remarkable, although they are very high. The tour of the capitals ends beautifully in the cloister with its sculpted columns.
