CAVES DEL MONTE CASTILLO

Perched on a beautiful panoramic hill, the Puente Viesgo deposit reveals a continuous human presence for more than 50 000 years. There are several caves, two of which open to the public: Las Monedas and El Castillo. The same provision is available in Altamira: habitat at the entrance to the cave and sanctuary room on the bottom. There was discovered silex and tools, a part of which is exhibited at the Man museum in Paris. If the representations of animals are not as exciting as in Altamira, here the visit takes more of the archaeological expedition in a universe populated with giant columns, stalactites and abstract figures painted or engraved 20 000 years ago. Half way, fascinating meeting with red hands printed on the rock.
