TITO BUSTILLO ROCK ART CENTRE
Small and very interesting museum with 6 exhibition rooms dedicated to the discovery of a cave
Inaugurated in 2011, this interpretation centre is distinguished by the quality of its scenography. The subdued lights allow you to immerse yourself in the mysterious atmosphere of the discovery of a cave. Through the six exhibition rooms, this small and very interesting museum invites you to a real journey through time.
The first room is dedicated to the first explorers of the Tito Bustillo cave who discovered it in April 1968. The survivors of the team of student cavers recall their memories through a moving documentary.
Rooms 2 and 3 focus on the cave itself: its geological characteristics and some replicas of the paintings and engravings that have been found there, while room 4 focuses on painting, engraving and lighting techniques.
Take your time in the fifth room: this is where you will find reproductions of the latest finds made in the cave in the 1990s, but which are inaccessible to the public, including the paintings in the Anthropomorphic Room, which are the oldest on the site, and the Horse Gallery.
The last room is a set of interactive tables which will provide you with fascinating information on the Spanish rock heritage, especially on the Cantabrian coast.
At the end of your visit, don't forget to have a drink in the cafeteria to enjoy its terrace and the beautiful view of the Río Sella.
