MONASTERIO DE SAMOS
Monastery being a spiritual and cultural reference point, a seat of the Benedictine order, housing the cloister of Feijoo
Founded in the 6th century, the monastery of Samos has suffered several fires during its history. After a first fire in 1533, in the 16th century the monastery became a spiritual and cultural reference point, welcoming kings, noblemen, bishops and artists. At the beginning of the 19th century, it became the seat of the Benedictine order and served as a war hospital during the French invasion. In 1951, another fire forced a partial reconstruction. During the visit, you will be able to admire the Feijoo cloister, one of the largest in Spain.
