MONASTERIO DE SANTA MARÍA DE SOBRADO
Cistercian monastery founded in the twelfth century, with Mannerist Baroque architecture and walls decorated with lichens and flowers
Cistercian monastery whose construction dates back to the 12th century, although it was later transformed in the 17th and 18th centuries. It was abandoned in the 19th century and was completely restored thanks to the intervention of the provincial government. Exuberant vegetation has invaded every niche, with lichens and flowers covering almost all of its walls. The interior, of Mannerist Baroque architecture, is magnificent, where darkness gives a very romantic aspect.
